Big Mother (Earth) Is Watching You

Cooling Is Warming Debt Is Prosperity Ignorance Is Strength
The exotic or quaint beliefs of various cults and creeds are rightly the private business of their members. As this writer loves to quote Jefferson, “It matters not to me whether my neighbor believes in twenty gods or no god; it neither picks my pocket, nor breaks my leg.”
When, however, not just unprovable but patently false claims are used precisely to try to pick others’ pockets and break their legs if they do not cooperate, this is fanaticism. Fanaticism, like any other threat to unalienable rights, must never be tolerated, condoned, or acquiesced to.
The loony ravings of the Associated Press on the alleged urgent need for President Obama to use Inauguration Day itself to impoverish and enslave the people of the United States in the name of the Flying Spaghetti Monster of global warming are a case in point.
Investors Business Daily has responded very effectively, with facts that demonstrate the lack of any objective honest basis for the claims and predictions of the believers that human production of carbon dioxide is leading to world-wide climatic catastrophe.

A little honest perspective on historic temperature change
Even more damning are the global temperature figures put out by the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change itself, the very Sanhedrin of the carbon cult. These figures, even when one of their four sources is the notorious fraud factory of James Hansen, show NO WARMING SINCE 1998. The greatest one-year change in temperature they have ever recorded was last year, when they said THE WORLD COOLED. They say, as can be seen from the EXPANDING Arctic ice sheet to frozen-over Main Street, that this year has been cooler still.
We therefore see the spectacle of Hansen, of IPCC guru Rajendra Pachauri, and now of Seth Borenstein of the Associated Press, feverishly spewing Newspeak:
Cooling Is Warming! Empirical evidence cannot disprove phony computer models! The truth is what we say it is!
The time when any thinking person could be forgiven for taking this stuff seriously can now surely be said to be coming to an end. That people such as Dubya Bush and John McCain have lately jumped onto Al Gore’s bandwagon is both revealing and devastating. That people such as President-elect Obama are still on it is equally so. The Emperor truly has no clothes.

The answer may lie in the “Ziegler Effect“. The more a person’s environment is shaped by Old Schooling and Old Media, the more subject they are to the “bread and circuses” control of the “Aristocratick Combination”. The most frightening thing is that, instead of simply being amoral self-seeking Blagos, the most powerful members are themselves dutiful parrots and robots in the hands of the high priests of hot air.
The situation is disturbingly reminiscent of the utter lunacy that led the ruling institutions of Imperial Japan to carry out the attack on Pearl Harbor.
Let us just be glad, as noteworthy cold grips the northern hemisphere, that the predictions that the oil prices of this past summer were a permanent trend were as accurate as the predictions of island nations and polar bears disappearing beneath the waves.

To refer once again to the immortal words of Jefferson, “This hand to tyrants, ever swarn the foe”, or in more contemporary terms, “This finger to fanatics!”

As the day has progressed, more and more responses have appeared to the AP article. Here is a good one:

People who are ill-informed, misinformed, or true believers can of course still sincerely say anthropogenic global warming is real, but only a liar can any longer claim a “scientific consensus”.

Yes, 30 years is about the length of a typical cycle of warmer and cooler weather…
